Questions

What to do in an emergency situations?

If you feel like you’re having an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
If you’re having suicidal thoughts, you can call 988 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Can I get care virtually?

Yes, I am set up to do telehealth. Generally speaking, intakes will be in person and follow ups will be your preference. If exceptions need to be made, we can discuss on the phone to see if it’s appropriate or not.

How long are appointments?

Initial appointment 60-90 minutes. 
Follow up appointments are either 30, 45 or 60 minutes.

What are your cancellations/no shows policy?

Dr. Nguyen values and respects your time and expects the same in return. She keeps a 48-hour cancellation policy and reserves the right to charge a full session’s fee for missed appointments or cancellations without adequate notice.

Do you accept commercial insurance plans?

Dr. Nguyen does not accept insurance at this time and am considered out of network for all insurances. This allows her the ability to give clients the time and thoughtful care that they deserve, utilizing evidence based best practices.

What is your rate? How do I pay?

Initial Psychiatric Evaluation, 60-90 minutes – $450.
Follow up Appointment, 30 minutes – $150.

Follow up Appointment, 45 minutes – $225.

Follow up Appointment, 60 minutes – $300.

Payment is via cash or credit card.

What is your policy for medication refills?

Does a “medical evaluation” mean I will get a prescription?

Not necessarily. The evaluation will determine if medications are indicated or not. Sometimes medications are highly recommended, sometimes moderately, and sometimes not recommended at all. We will review risks, benefits and alternatives of medications when discussing treatment plans.

When does our doctor/patient relationship begin?

Upon completing the initial comprehensive evaluation, we will review together the diagnosis and proposed treatment plan. If we are in agreement, we can proceed forward formally as doctor-patient and schedule follow up appointments.

Do you do disability evaluations, forensic psychiatry, substance use disorders?

Unfortunately I am not set up to evaluate for medical or psychiatric disability.  I do not treat primary substance use disorders,  does not evaluate areas of forensic psychiatry , and custody/divorce disputes.

This practice prefers not to prescribe the chronic use of benzodiazepines (such as Xanax, Klonopin). If obtaining a prescription for Xanax is your main reason for seeing a physician, please seek that care from another provider. Thank you for your understanding.
